The other day, in order to exercise, I put Rebecca in her Pack-n-Play. She quickly got restless and I quickly ran out of water. I gave her the bottle to play with to see if it would buy me a few more minutes on the elliptical. It was all for nothing because I saw her trying to drink from that huge bottle and I ran to get my camera and take some pictures.

Outro dia eu coloquei a Rebecca no chiqueirinho para poder me exercitar. Ela logo ficou entediada e começou a reclamar que queria sair de lá. Eu ja havia bebido toda minha água então resolvi dar a garrafa para ela brincar. Não me ajudou muito pq assim que eu a vi tentando beber dessa garrafa tão grande eu corri para buscar a câmera para tirar fotos.

Back to vacation /Our trip home

Our trip home was not as easy as the trip to Brazil. We were all tired and since there weren’t as many extra seats on the plane, we had a hard time sleeping.

Here are a couple of photos of Rebecca on the plane ride home. These photos are especially funny to me because she generally sleeps on her stomach with her legs under her. She was really exhausted at this point and after a bit of crying and screaming she fell asleep.





Volta pra casa

Nossa viagem de volta pros Estados Unidos não foi tão fácil quanto a ida pra lá. Nós estávamos todos cansados e como não haviam acentos extras no avião foi difícil dormir.

Essas fotos são da Rebecca dormindo no avião. Eu acho elas muito engraçadas porque ela geralmente dorme de barriga pra baixo com as pernas dobradas. Nessas fotos ela estava exausta e depois de ter chorado e gritado um pouco ela dormiu.

One

Rebecca is one!
Okay, this is not a really recent thing since she turned one April 24th, but since I didn’t blog about it then, I am doing it now. We celebrated her birthday while we were in Brazil. Rebecca’s birthday was on Easter and my sister’s birthday was a few days later, so we celebrated them together.

Since coming home, we’ve had her one-year appointment and here are the stats:
Height – 30.5 inches (95th percentile)
Weight – 20 pounds (25th percentile)

She is walking, and saying a few things. She can say mommy (mamãe) and daddy (papai) in Portuguese as well as give (dá) and want (quer). More recently she started to say Ollie. She can climb the stairs and we are currently working on teaching her how to go down the stairs backwards.









Rebecca tem um ano!
Na realidade isso não é notícia nova. Ela fez um ano no dia vinte e quatro de abril, mas como eu nunca postei nada a respeito, estou postando agora. O aniversário dela foi na Páscoa e como o aniversário da minha irmã era alguns dias depois, nós comemoramos os dois no mesmo dia.

Desde que voltamos pra casa, ela foi ao médico para a consulta de um ano dela. Aqui estão as estatisticas dela:
Altura – 77.5 centímetros
Peso – 9 kilos

Ela está andando e falando algumas coisas. Ela fala mamãe e papai, quer e dá. Ultimamente ela começou a falar Ollie. Ela sabe subir a escada com os joelhos e agora estou ensinando ela a descer a escada de costas.

Home Again

We are now back home. I stopped blogging during our trip to Brazil because of my mother-in-law’s accident. For those who don’t know, my mother-in-law has been in the hospital in California for the last two weeks due to a brain hemorrhage she had after falling and hitting her head. Caleb and I were very concerned about her and we had a hard time thinking about anything else. At the time it I just didn’t feel like blogging. While she is still in the hospital, she is doing much better now and we feel very confident she will recover fully and be back home soon.

Now that we are home and I feel like blogging again, I’ll post video and photos of our vacation as well as news about life at home. For now, here is an old video taken by Rebecca.



Em Casa

Nós estamos em casa agora. Eu parei de postar notícias durante a nossa viagem por causa do acidente da minha sogra. Para quem não sabe, minha sogra está num hospital na California faz duas semanas devido a uma hemorragia cerebral que sofreu quando caiu e bateu sua cabeça. Caleb e eu estavamos bem preocupados com ela e por causa disso não deu vontade de postar sobre nada. Apesar de minha sogra ainda estar no hospital, ela está bem melhor e temos esperança que logo ela vai poder voltar pra casa.

Agora que estamos em casa eu quero postar novamente. Eu vou postar vídeos e fotos da nossa viagem assim como notícias da vida aqui em casa. Por enquanto dê uma olhada nesse vídeo que a Rebecca fez sozinha.

Finally!

I finally finished Rebecca's room. We were using the room for storage and she was sleeping in the master bedroom, but now Becca has a space of her own. I painted the room a while ago but it took some time to find everyting I wanted to put in there and to hang everything. I love that she has her own space and that we all sleep a little better now.
Now I can tackle another project. What will be next?










Finalmente!

Eu finalmente terminei o quarto da Rebecca. Nós estavamos usando o quarto dela como um armário e ela estava dormindo no nosso quarto, mas agora ela tem um espaço próprio. Eu pintei o quarto dela faz algum tempo mas demorou pra achar tudo que eu queria para o quarto e para pendurar tudo na parede e no teto. Eu adoro que ela agora tem seu próprio espaço e que todo mundo dorme um pouco melhor.
Agora eu posso começar meu próximo projeto. Qual será o próximo?

Leaving on a jet plane

We made it to Brazil!

The trip was very, very, very tiring but it went great. The first leg of the trip was to New York. The plane ride was easy and there was enough room for Rebecca's car seat. She didn't sleep much but she was very well behaved and happy as usual. It was on the plane that she discovered the joy of headphones. She wanted to pull them away from our ears and when I put it close to hers she really enjoyed it.

The second leg of the trip came after a seven hour layover (yes, seven hours!!!). Rebecca fell asleep soon after we took off and woke up once in the middle of the night. She did awesome and people on the plane gave her props for being such a good baby.







Chegamos ao Brasil!

A viagem foi muito, muito cansativa mas foi ótima. A primeira parte da viagem foi para New York. Teve espaço suficiente no avião para a Rebecca e o assento dela. Ela não dormiu muito mas ela se comportou bem e estava feliz. No avião a Rebecca descobriu os fones de ouvido. Ela ficou tentando tirar os fones das nossas orelhas e quando eu coloquei na dela ela gostou bastante.

A segunda parte da viagem foi depois de sete horas de espera no aeroporto. A Rebecca dormiu logo depois da decolagem e só acordou uma vez durante a noite. Ela foi muito bem durante todo o vôo e depois que chegamos várias pessoas elogiaram ela por ter se comportado tão bem.
