Eating Healthy

We feel it's really important to feed our child healthy foods. So here she is eating a carrot. Mr. Carrot to be precise :)

Halloween

We had the best Halloween ever! The whole family dressed up and we handed out a lot of candy.
Ollie was a pig, Rebecca was a cow, Caleb was a farmer, and I was a scarecrow.
We loved getting ready and I must say I think Rebecca is the cutest cow ever!

Rebecca is six months old! I can't believe time is going by so fast. She is doing great and is such a sweet and happy baby.

Here are the stats on her six-month appointment and a couple of pictures:
  • Weight: 15 pounds, 15 ounces (50th percentile)
  • Height: 27 1/2 inches (> 95th percentile)

Life in the last three months

So much has happened since Rebecca was born. Things haven’t been going quite as we had imagined, but we are all doing better now. I will go back in time to recapture everything that has happened up to now so that I can get back to post new developments and milestones for our family.

In the last 3 months

· Rebecca had her one- and two-month baby well checkups. At the two-month checkup, we learned that she had not gained as much weight as was expected. After trying to figure out what was going on, we realized that I was not producing enough milk. We put her on formula and she is now doing much better. She gained more weight and she is happier and less fussy. We are happy to see her personality developing every day.

· We traveled to Utah to visit friends and family. We had a great time. It was Rebecca’s first time flying and she did great.

· We went to Cannon Beach with Caleb’s family. Keeping with tradition, we spent a week on the Oregon coast to celebrate the 4th of July. It was Rebecca’s first time at the beach and also Ollie’s first. We had a lot of fun spending time with family and just relaxing.

· I found out that I have gallstones. It didn’t take long since I was having gallbladder attacks every week. I just had surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove my gallbladder. As it turns out, I had a few stones in there (one was 2 cm x 2 cm x 1 cm!) and my gallbladder was inflamed. This explains so much! I am still recovering, but I am already feeling better overall.

· I found out I have an ulcer. I was having so many stomach problems and was so miserable that the doctor wasn’t sure what was wrong. He found the gallstones but he did more tests and found out I also have a stomach ulcer. I have been treating it with antibiotics for a couple of weeks and will be done with the treatment soon. Hopefully this is the end of my health troubles.

We are now looking forward to enjoying our happy baby and settling down for a little while. We continue to live with Caleb’s parents while we look for a house.
